This acrylic painting was inspired by a quiet moment from my trip to Crete in August 2026, capturing the calm intimacy of the sea at dusk. The horizon stretches wide beneath a softly glowing sky, where warm bands of pale yellow, peach, and muted rose gently fade into one another, echoing the lingering heat of a Mediterranean evening.
 
Below, the sea is alive with movement layered strokes of blue, teal, and sea-foam ripple across the surface, reflecting the shifting light of the sky above. The texture of the acrylic paint gives the water a rhythmic energy, suggesting both motion and stillness. Near the centre, a lone paddler moves steadily across the waves, rendered small against the vastness of the ocean, evoking a sense of solitude, freedom, and quiet reflection.
 
The piece captures the essence of Crete in late summer: expansive, sun-warmed, and timeless an invitation to pause, breathe, and remember the feeling of being carried by the sea.
